Gilbarco Veeder-Root is pioneering a new way to drive customers from the fuel island to the c-store, with an industry-first solution that enables them to purchase in-store merchandise during the fueling process. The technology promises to increase in-store traffic and sales, while decreasing transaction costs.
“This partnership marks the future of the c-store,” said Travis Bouck, vice president of marketing, North America for Gilbarco. “According to NACS data, nearly two-thirds of fueling customers leave without visiting the c-store. Now, idle time during refueling can be leveraged to maximize each and every customer visit.”
Gilbarco’s Encore dispenser line enables Purchase@Pump, which works with any point of sale system. When combined with the Odysii intelligent upselling system, Purchase@Pump is enhanced to optimize promotions based upon customer profile and transaction history, weather, time of day, and retailer promotions, among others.
Bouck added, “Our goal is to drive fueling customers into the store and make it easy for loyal c-store shoppers to buy their favorite items. As an added benefit, Purchase@Pump is a one card-swipe transaction, which means our retailers see a lower transaction fee.”
