Engine Parts Buying Group Poised to Open Western Canada DC

The E.R.I. Group has announced that it will be opening a Western Canada distribution center in early September.
The facility, operating under the Independent Parts Warehousing Inc. name, a wholly owned subsidiary of E.R.I., will be open for business at its Edmonton, Alta. location on September 4, 2001. The facility will be managed by Russ Tomlinson.
At 3,600 square feet, the facility will improve the availability of 17 key product lines to the buying group’s 106 of the group’s 254 engine rebuilder members who are located in Western Canada.
"It will get product to our members in Western Canada in a more timely manner," says the group’s president Richard Miller. "It will give them local availability for product that would otherwise have to be shipped out of the U.S. or Toronto." Miller says that this will telescope shipping times to a matter of hours or overnight, from three to five days.
"It’s progress. Western Canada’s time has come. It’s time to go forward and offer additional benefits to our western Canadian members. It’s a dedicated facility not open to shipment to anyone else so this will hopefully give our folks another leg up on their competitors."
