Delphi Corp. is in labour talks with the International Union of Electrical Workers (IUE-CWA), a week after coming to an agreement with the UAW.
The United Auto Workers and Delphi came to an agreement wereby both agreed to a concession package covering some 17,000 UAW workers. The IUE-CWA represents some 1,900 employees at Delphi, most working at the three Delphi plants that have remained open after Delphi emerged from bankruptcy protection.
In the agreement between the UAW and Delphi, UAW workers are being offered another round of buyouts. It is offering a payout of US$105,000 over three years to veteran workers at Delphi who want to stay with the company at reduced wages and benefits.
