Competition Bureau Gives Go Ahead for Uni-Select and Acklands-Grainger Joint Venture

Uni-Select and Acklands-Grainger have received word from the Competition Bureau that it will not initiate any action under the Competition Act with respect to their joint venture in the Western Canada.
Uni-Select, Canada’s second largest distributor of automotive and heavy-duty replacement parts, equipment, tools and accessories, and Acklands-Grainger, Canada’s leading distributor of industrial, fleet and safety supply products, announced in October that they would form a joint venture combining Uni-Select’s Western Division and Acklands-Grainger automotive aftermarket division operating as Bumper to Bumper. The joint venture is to be managed by Uni-Select.
The transaction should close on February 1, 2002, subject to customary conditions.
