Canadian Tire has opened a new 106,000-square-foot distribution facility in Kirkland, Que. to serve 133 stores in Qubec and the Maritimes with auto parts and accessories shipments.
The facility which will serve 56 stores in Montreal area alone, was officially opened earlier today.
Canadian Tire Retail president Mark Foote joined Express Auto Parts manager Jean Falcon, Canadian Tire’s vice-president of Distribution, Bruce Johnson, Canadian Tire employees and associate dealers for a ribbon cutting ceremony to mark the official opening of the Kirkland-based facility. Now operational, the site employs about 75 people and has the material handling systems necessary to support daily shipments of automotive hard parts and accessories to all Eastern Canada stores.
The building enables Canadian Tire to increase its supply chain capacity and to better position itself to meet the needs of Canadian Tire’s aggressive plans for future growth.
“Canadian Tire continues to experience strong growth due to customer acceptance of our programs and products. This new facility in Kirkland plays a key role in meeting this growth and ensuring we have products for our customers when and where they want them,” said Mark Foote, president, Canadian Tire Retail.
