Bosch Announces Settlement with ADM21 Co. Ltd.

Robert Bosch LLC has announce that it has reached a mutually satisfactory settlement with ADM21 Co. Ltd. (Korea). The settlement ends the patent infringement lawsuit that Bosch filed against ADM in the United States District Court for the District of Nevada and the complaint Bosch filed against ADM in the United States ITC – International Trade Commission. In these suits, Bosch alleged ADM21 infringed six of its wiper blade patents. ADM will compensate Bosch for past sales by ADM and has agreed to pay a royalty for future sales. The remaining terms of the settlement are confidential.

With the ADM settlement, Bosch has succeeded in defending its intellectual property (IP) against the last group of alleged infringers in the ITC action. In 2013, Bosch reached favorable settlements with other alleged infringers in the ITC action including Pylon Manufacturing Corporation and Corea Autoparts Producing Corporation (CAP). Including previous actions filed in U.S. District Courts, Bosch has concluded close to 20 lawsuits concerning beam wiper blade patent infringement in recent years, all of which have been won by or settled in favor of Bosch.

“Bosch is pleased with the outcome of its actions so far,” commented Odd Joergenrud, regional president, Automotive Aftermarket North America for Robert Bosch LLC. “We believe it’s vitally important to the automotive aftermarket that manufacturers vigorously defend their IP against patent infringement, knock-off and counterfeit parts coming into North America that could damage reputable suppliers and the industry as a whole. Such defense sends a clear signal to would-be infringers that their actions will not be tolerated,” he added.
