Audio And Computing

The Clarion AutoPC integrates car audio, computing functions, navigation and wireless communications through hands-free voice activation into a 1-DIN unit in the dash. Built on an open architecture platform and powered by the Windows CE operating system–also used by many palmtop computing devices–the unit features a high powered receiver and amp with 35 watts x 4 channels, a CD player/CD-ROM drive, and backlit eight-color LCD screen. Also, the unit recognizes more than 200 simple voice commands and can provide information such as directions or e-mail alerts. Other applications include an address book, mileage log and hands-free memo features. Options include a six CD changer, a GPS receiver, flash memory cards, cellular phone cradle and modem, and a vehicle diagnostic module to enable the AutoPC to receive data from the vehicle’s on-board systems.
