Akzo Nobel Receives Approvals From Ford and Chrysler

Akzo Nobel has received approval by Ford Motor Company for use of its Sikkens Colorbuild Plus. The product line is a multifunctional undercoat system that can be used for both sanding and non-sanding applications.
It can also be applied directly to metal, plastics and OEM coated panels.
“Sikkens Colorbuild was the first true color primer system on the market,” said Akzo Nobel’s Director of Marketing, Tim Loden.
“It has maximum flexibility, minimizes waste and is fully VOC compliant for both sanding and non-sanding applications.”
The company also received approval from Chrysler LLC for use of Sikkens Autowave and Lesonal WB. Both products are also VOC compliant waterborne basecoats.
“This is very important,”says Loden.
“Currently all California collision repair centers are required to implement waterborne paints by the end of 2009.
“Legislation and social trends are propelling us toward a greener environment.
“Chrysler collision centers and bodyshops using our products will be well prepared for the future.
“These products are more environmentally friendly without compromising quality or ease of use.”
