AAPEX Special Report: Bosch Booth Creates Buzz With Car Giveaway and New Product

Show attendees swarmed the Bosch exhibit to check out the 2011 Mustang RTR, a custom-built vehicle by famed drifting champion Vaughn Gittin Jr. and the grand prize in Bosch’s Iridium Mustang RTR Sweepstakes and get a close look at the Discovery Channel’s Storm Chasers Dominator 2 armored tank.
The RTR Mustang, a one-of-a-kind Bosch Iridium Edition valued at $50,000, was developed to promote its new-generation Bosch Iridium spark plugs.
“Our new Bosch Iridium, a fine-wire Iridium spark plug, brings the best in OE technology to the aftermarket, including a 360-degree continuous laser welded iridium center electrode and the industry’s only laser welded, iridium-platinum alloy ground electrode,” says Pam Krebs, director of advertising and sales promotion for Bosch.
The booth also had a special appearance from Storm Chaser star and meteorologist, Reed Timmer, who greeted visitors and signed autographs. Storm Chasers, now its fifth season on the Discovery Channel has captured more than 200 tornadoes on film, uses Bosch Icon beam wiper blades.
At the show, Bosch announced its new workshop filter programs that will cover cabin air and oil filters for the installer market in both Canada and the U.S.
The workshop filter programs are designed to help warehouse distributors and jobbers bring Bosch quality fit and functionality to their installer customers at a price point that meets current market demands.
“All Bosch Premium Oil Filters have a more sophisticated construction which provides a tight seal for a leak-free installation, and can still be easily removed,” Chuck Kerrigan, director of marketing for Filtration Americas, a business unit of Robert Bosch LLC. “In a tough economy when car owners would be delighted at the chance to get the most out of their vehicles without spending a large sum of money, these filters provide a repair shop-for the first time-the ability to offer the excellence of Bosch quality filtration at such a value.”
Bosch also announced that it’s launching a new electronic catalogue that will allow users to access part information and applications online and with mobile devices, such as iPads and iPhones. And as a unique visual function, Bosch has added a 360-degree view of the catalogue parts, giving users a closer look at part details.
