AAIW Daily: HKS Showcasing Concept Vehicles at SEMA

HKS USA, Inc. will be showcasing its research and development expertise in several new concept vehicles and project cars at this year’s Specialty Equipment Market Association’s (SEMA) Show November 2-5 at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
HKS’ performance products will be highlighted on five different project vehicles ranging from the WraptivoTM Honda CR-Z Type-F Concept to the Full Tilt Poker Mazda Nitto RX8 built for competition by Bergenholtz Racing.
“At HKS USA, we take seriously our position as the industry leader in offering driving enthusiast a full-range of technically superior performance products, including our proprietary GTII Turbos and GT Superchargers, engine management and suspensions systems,” said Rick Lafferty, president, HKS USA. “We’ve worked with some of the most respected designers and engineers to showcase our products throughout the SEMA show instead of in one centralized location, so that show goers can see the latest HKS technologies applied to leading edge cars,”
One car that stands out is the WraptivoTM Honda CR-Z Type-F Concept located in the Honda booth #24887 and it is certain to stop show goers in their tracks while evoking the notion of fun, which lies at the core of the CR-Z DNA while also giving a nod to the spirit and Honda heritage of the CR-Z. To increase performance Wraptivo and Meguiar’s teamed up with HKS to help this project evoke the soul of driving fun. HKS developed a prototype supercharger system featuring their patented GTS 4015 supercharger and added their Silent Hi-Power exhaust package that helps boost horsepower for some added pep.
As part of HKS’ commitment to building vehicles that have total performance, HKS selected John Pangilinan and his Scion tC GT project which is also entered in the 2010 Scion Tuner Challenge – booth #20703 – for the Battle of the Champions. All forms of motorsports and racing inspired this Scion tC GT. HKS’ prototype Legamax Exhaust system is the newest HKS innovation on this tC, but for the package to achieve HKS’ highest performance standards, form also follows function. For true performance enthusiasts, the tC’s custom turbo kit relies on the HKS GTII wastegate to control boost pressure, while the HKS SSQV protects the turbocharger from compressor surge.
Drift enthusiasts will have the opportunity to check out the Full Tilt Poker Mazda Nitto RX8 built for competition by Bergenholtz Racing, which will be on display in the CSF Performance Radiators booth # 24981in the Central Hall. The Full Tilt Poker Mazda Nitto RX8 Drift Team utilized an HKS Intercooler linked to the RX8’s existing turbo for increased horsepower and an HKS Six Speed Sequential Transmission to transfer all the power to the track. HKS, through its many years of motorsport activities, developed a transmission that can be used to accurately transfer engine torque at the highest levels of motorsports such as drifting and the results speak for themselves with their support of the Full Tilt Mazda Nitto RX8 team.
DSO Eyewear created a unique Honda CR-Z Sport Hybrid Tuner with aggressive lines enhanced by striking custom two-tone paint complete with carbon fiber and black accents. The DSO CR-Z Sport Hybrid Tuner located in the Honda booth #24887 is influenced by West Coast automotive culture and features an all-star line up of performance enhancements from HKS including a racing suction reloaded intake system with aluminum suction pipes and backing plate. The DSO CRZ Sport Hybrid Tuner’s exhaust is channeled through HKS’ silent hi-power fully polished stainless steel exhaust system, designed for enthusiasts seeking the highest quality performance exhaust system with only a slight increase in noise. An HKS Hipermax III suspension system ads improved vehicle dynamics to the DSO CRZ Sport Hybrid Tuner and increased driver command in all conditions combing track-quality control with excellent ride and handling with a wide range of adjustability combined with precise corner balancing.
