2001: A Year to Remember, a Year to Forget – July

The big news in July was the realization of tool tax relief for apprentices. While a qualified success, it was at least a partial win for the long-fought battle by industry associations. In other good news, the Shad’s R&R golf tournament raised $140,000, bringing its cumulative total to $2,350,000 in support of research into Muscular Dystrophy. CounterTalk was dedicated to explaining the new SL/GF-3 motor oil standard. We also reported on the AIA Convention presentations and awards–such as Doug Cumming Jr. receiving the Distinguished Service Award–and the annual celebration of speed at the Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal.
