The Automotive Industries Association (AIA) of Canada announced the Honourable Jean Charest, one of Canada’s best known political figures, will be one of the keynote speakers at the 2013 Aftermarket Conference for Executives (ACE).
A career politician, Mr. Charest was first elected as a Member of Parliament in 1984, at the age of 26. He continued to serve as an MP at the federal level until 1998 in a number of posts including: Minister of State for Fitness and Amateur Sport; Minister of the Environment; Minister of Industry, Science, and Technology; and Deputy Prime Minister. Finally giving in to public and political pressure, Charest left federal politics in 1998 and became leader of the Quebec Liberal Party. He then served as Premier of Quebec from 2003 until 2012, and his party became known for its world leadership on issues of environment and climate change.
Jean Charest will be joining Dan Gardner, an award-winning journalist, and Dr. Sherry Cooper, one of Canada’s most influential women, to round out the stellar line-up of speakers scheduled for this year’s event, which will take place at the Fairmont Le Chateau Frontenac in Quebec City on April 11th and 12th.
