Four Canadians Among SEMA Scholarship Winners

Four Canadians were among the recipients of the California-based Specialty Equipment Market Association’s scholarship program.
SEMA awarded a total of $140,000 U.S. in scholarships to students and graduates pursuing careers in the automotive industry through the SEMA Memorial Scholarship Fund (SMSF).
Recipients studying in Canada were Cassandra Datt, Oakville, Ont., studying Interior Sustainable Design at Sheridan College, Toronto, Ont.; Shawn Stephens, Oshawa, Ont., working on his Automotive Business Degree at Georgian College in Barrie, Ont.; Trudy Hatt of Letang, N.B., comleting studies in Automotive Marketing & Business at New Brunswick Community College; and Derek Schultz of Saskatoon, Sask., who is working to become an Automotive Service Technician at the Saskatchewan Institute of Applied Science & Technology.
The total funds for the scholarship are divided among separate categories of students. SEMA-member dependents and employees share $20,000; graduate students: $8,000; students attending a four-year university, $64,000; students attending a two-year college, $19,000; students attending a vocational or technical school share $22,000; and SEMA-member employees paying existing student loans (SEMA Loan Forgiveness) share $7,000.
