Former F1 Champ Loses License

Former F1 Champ Loses License

News out of Brazil has three-time Formula One champion Nelson Piquet having been relegated to driving school after losing his license for traffic violations.
The former driver, now 54, says it wasnt just speeding–having been snagged for illegal parking etc., but admits that he must pay for his missteps. At least he wont have to attend the driving awareness course alone as his wife, Viviane, has also been forced to take the course for bad driving.
Piquet joins a number of F1 drivers who couldnt quell their need for speed once away from track. Jean Alesi, who retired in 2001, was sprung from the drivers seat in 2003 when French police clocked his Mercedes AMG at 191 km/h driving his mother from Geneva to Avignon. His mother had to take the wheel for the rest of the trip.
Back in 2001, current Toyota F1 driver Ralf Schumacher was snagged near Salzburg, Austria, at 170 km/h, without his licence with him, earning a two-week suspension.
Curiously his brother, the perennially dominant F1 pilot Michael Schumacher, who retired prior to this season, has only received one ticket, for crossing out of his lane when a corner was too tight for his pace.
