First Quebec Technicians Gain Ford…

First Quebec Technicians Gain Ford Master Technician Status

Two employees at Chomedey Ford in Ville de Laval, Quebec, were named “Master Technicians” today, becoming the first technicians in the province to hold this title.
Becoming a Master Technician requires hundreds of hours of training culminating in a demanding examination process. Of the more than 5,000 Ford service technicians across Canada, only 66 have reached the Master level.
Sylvain Leclerc and Pierre Tremblay received their Masters’ recognition at Chomedey Ford today from Gilles Contant, vice president of customer service, Ford Motor Company of Canada, Limited.
Also recognized was Gilbert Delaney who received his Senior Technician designation–an important milestone on the way to becoming a Master Technician.
“Master technicians are among a very elite group – they are simply the best in their profession,” Contant said. “Reaching this level of expertise requires an extreme commitment to excellence and to doing what’s right for the customer.”
Four years ago, Ford of Canada introduced an intensive technical training program to ensure that technicians at its dealerships had access to the latest knowledge and technology for automotive service. The program combines self- study courses, Internet-based training and classroom sessions on everything from automotive electronics and engine systems, to transmissions and brakes.
