Non-Proprietary Initiative

The Passport Standards may augur a positive step for automotive service equipment and systems suppliers. As a set of standards for hardware, database and communications, it can allow different systems at a service facility to be compatible, even if different suppliers make them. Currently, that group of suppliers–known as the Enterprise Alliance–includes some big names in service equipment such as SPX, Hunter, Chief, Vetronix, MPSI, and AllData. The goal is to be able to have repair garages share vehicle information with every workstation in the garage and enable integrated, efficient marketing and business operations. Contact: Enterprise Alliance, Inc., 5960 East Kilgore, Kalamazoo, MI 49001.
