Canadian Considerations

Canadian Considerations

For Canadian technicians, there are a few special instructions to keep in mind when preparing for ASE testing. The experience requirement means that you’ll need either a provincial automotive trade certificate, or have two years of hands-on work experience. If you haven’t provided work experience information previously, you’ll need to fill in the Work Experience Report form that accompanies your admission ticket. The test is designed primarily for U.S. citizens, so you’ll be asked to substitute your SIN, province and postal code into spaces labeled “Social Security Number”, “State” and ‘Zip Code”. Fees are payable in U.S. dollars. Registration costs US$26, with regular repair test fees at US$21 per test, and advanced level test fees at US$41 per test. The registration fee is the same no matter how many tests you take, or in what combination of regular, advanced or recertification types. You can take up to four tests in one day, but ASE recommends limiting your effort to no more than 225 questions per test session. Make sure that you’ve received your admission ticket by April 13, 2001. If you haven’t, call 319-337-1433.
