Collision industry to hold information…

Collision industry to hold information sessions across Ontario

A trade association representing collision repair shops is organizing a tour of information workshops across Ontario to discuss issues that are transforming the industry.

The Canadian Industry Information Assistance (CIIA) association will hold 10 meetings in April, May, and June, in major centres from Windsor to Ottawa.

According to executive director John Norris, collision shop owners and managers across the province are under increasing financial stress. They’ll benefit from information that will be presented by a number of guest speakers on topics that include the new Vehicle Security Professional program, the enforcement activities of the new Ontario College of Trades, new hoist safety training, and insurance-driven parts procurement.

Many of the topics will be of great interest to those in the mechanic industry as well, he says. He’s inviting repair shop owners and technicians across Ontario to come out and learn about the latest trends in vehicle repair.

Norris said there will also be an opportunity for attendees to offer insights and recommendations to the association to help address today’s issues.

“This is your opportunity to be heard and find out what the industry association can and has done to help you,” he said.

The events will be held:

  * April 23 at Algonquin College in Ottawa.

  * May 1 at icoat training center in Windsor

  * May 7 at Fanshawe College in London

  * May 9 at the Waterloo Inn in Waterloo

  * May 14 at the Monte Carlo Inn in Vaughan

  * May 22 at the Admiral Inn in Burlington

  * May 28 at the Quality Inn Oshawa

  * June 4 at the Best Banquet Centre in Toronto (east)

  * June 6 at the Howard Johnson in Toronto (west)

  * June 11 at the Holiday Inn  in Barrie.

Each evening event will run from 6:30 to 9:00 p.m. Refreshments will be provided and there will be door prizes as well.

To register, call 1-866-309-4272. A $10 admission fee at the door will help cover costs.

“All shop owners, managers and staff are invited,” he said. “This is your opportunity for learning and for comment. We want to hear from you!”

The tour is being sponsored by Standard Auto Wreckers, Classic Bumpers and Fenders, and iCoat.
