Senior members of the Cloyes technical team will present a primer on timing drive systems during an Oct. 16 webinar hosted by the Production Engine Remanufacturers Association.
Cloyes vice president of engineering Jason Thompson and Cloye’s technical support manager Cody Smith will discuss the evolution of cam drives over the years and the proper ways to repair complete timing drive systems.
They point out that because timing chain systems are not scheduled maintenance items, repairing before catastrophic failure is key. It is important to be able to recognize the symptoms.
Their one-hour session is entitled “Timing Drive Systems: An In-Depth Review of Chain Systems, Components, and Technologies.” They’ll discuss the technologies involved in each part that is included in a timing drive system, along with the different drive systems commonly used.
Thompson said Cloyes’ decades of experience with timing chains, belts and related components “gives our engineering, product development, and technical support teams the ability to address any issues with timing systems.”
Cloyes will also present several of its recently launched product innovations, including timing chain kits with variable valve timing (VVT) actuators and timing chain water pump kits. These kits reiterate Cloyes’ focus on providing its customers with a complete repair solution.
