Vast-Auto Distribution has purchased the business operations of Eastern Automotive Warehousing, forming a new auto parts distribution company to serve Atlantic Canada.

The new entity, called Vast-Auto Distribution Atlantic, will be responsible for all distribution activities in the Atlantic provinces.

Eastern Automotive Warehousing’s company-owned stores will continue to operate under Auto Machinery.

The strategic partnership between the two companies was announced this morning by John Del Vasto, president of Vast-Auto Distribution, and David Vaughan, vice president of Eastern Automotive Warehousing.

“This transaction supports our growth strategy and strengthens our position in Eastern Canada,” Del Vasto said. “Atlantic Canada is a very important market for us and we are committed to offering parts stores access to a quality product assortment and provide value added services to fulfill the needs of the customer base.”

He said that in addition to the synergy and increased efficiency made possible by grouping the activities of the two companies, the quality and flexibility of the combined marketing programs will allow them to better serve their existing customers and develop the full potential of the market in an optimal way.

Vaughan described the deal as the beginning of an exciting era for Eastern Automotive Warehousing and Auto Machinery.

“The expanded operational and supply chain infrastructure enables us to better service the needs of our customers in Atlantic Canada and accelerate our growth plans,” he said. “We are proud of our family’s 100-year tradition in the industry and feel that partnering with Vast-Auto will make us stronger.”

Vaughan will continue to administer the business as vice president and general manager.

This transaction will expand Vast-Auto’s footprint of Auto Value associate and corporate part stores and its network of professional repair shops in Eastern Canada.

Vast-Auto Distribution operates the Auto Value, Auto Mecano, Monsieur Muffler, and OCTO Auto Service Plus banners. With this acquisition, Vast-Auto now operates six distribution centers in Eastern Canada – Montreal, Quebec City, Brampton, Scarborough, London, and Fredericton.

Vast-Auto Distribution and Eastern Automotive Warehousing are both shareholders of the Aftermarket Auto Parts Alliance, one of the largest auto parts distribution and marketing groups in North America.
