Toll free number now available for registering new tires

CIMS, a privately held U.S. company that manages the registration of North American purchased tires, has recently added a toll free number to assist consumers in the tire registration process.

Canadian federal law states that every manufacturers that sells passenger tires in Canada tires must have a registration process available to consumers. Registering newly purchased tires allows the manufacturer to contact the consumer in the event of a safety recall.

While registering tires in Canada is not mandatory, consumers are strongly encouraged to register their newly purchased tires. According to the Rubber Manufacturers Association of Canada, information gathered from tire registrations is privacy protected and cannot be used for marketing purposes.

CIMS tire registration services are offered to tire dealers, manufacturers, importers and consumers. The toll free number is available to Canadians, and can be reached at 855-444-5120.

CIMS President, Susan B. Kruder, recognized the necessity for a toll free number due to the increase of tire dealers, manufacturers and importers using CIMS’ tire registration services. Subsequently, the volume of phone calls for initial client setup, ongoing support questions and general information increased dramatically.

Inquiries handled by the CIMS range from processing tire registration forms, online registration availability and contact protocols in the event of a recall.

The new toll-free line will be staffed by experienced CIMS personnel. If callers do not reach a support person they will be able to utilize CIMS’ voicemail. A CIMS representative will promptly return their call.
