The print materials for the CARS Career Awareness Project are near completion and will be nationally focus tested during the month of August with educators, parents, employees and students.
Work is now underway to develop the career web site and CD-ROM. The site will include a “Mission Impossible/James Bond” type theme to entice young people to “carry out their mission” to explore industry careers. The concept has already received positive feedback from young people.
In fact, the contractor developing these multimedia components, has enlisted the participation of a grade 8 student to review the visual and interactive elements throughout development and provide feedback! This student has already helped by engaging an on-line discussion with other students to review and evaluate three different animated character concepts. The character chosen was based on their recommendations.
The web site will also include areas specifically for educators and industry to provide information and resource materials on-line and to provide updates.
All products will be completed in both English and French by late fall. Read future editions of the CARS Insider for details or check the CARS web site, www.cars-council.ca!
