Osram Sylvania used the Automotive Aftermarket Products Expo (AAPEX) to debut a new product packaging redesign. According to the company, the redesign represents the first major graphics change in nearly a decade for the venerable automotive supplier.
According to company officials, there were a number of variables that factored into a new packaging appearance for hundreds of products.
“Sylvania products are modern, bold and bright, and our goal was to redesign Sylvania packaging to mirror the premium traits of each one of our aftermarket products,” said Denise Champagne, marketing manager.
As a result, the company expects the redesigned packages to grab the attention of consumers and encourage them to visit the product display. The company also says it is committed to developing environmentally-friendly products and programs through its Global Care initiative. This sentiment is echoed in the redesigned packaging as well.
Overall, the new changes will reduce the amount of plastic in the packaging by having products encased in contoured, tighter “blister” cocoons, instead of large, loose-fitting plastic windows. These form-fitting cocoons make for a better theft-resistant package solution, as well as using less plastic and reducing cubic volume of the premium product packaging by up to seventy-eight percent, thus helping the environment by saving on shipping volume and fuel.
