Superior Tire & Auto has come a long way since it opened its doors in 1942. Back then, Walter Chudy started with a cash investment of $100. The company first retreaded tires.
Soon, it began selling new tires then expanded to offer vehicle repairs and maintenance. In 1991, with three locations, it began franchising. Today, the company has 14 locations in Ontario.
In 2012, Paul Hyatt sold the company to two if its first franchisees, Frank Bongiovanni and Howard Minsker. Hyatt spent 60 years in the tire industry, serving as president of the Tire Industry Association, the Ontario Tire Dealers Association and the TDAC Tire Dealers Association of Canada).
The company will celebrate its 75th anniversary on April 4.
