about the AIA making a statement about R2R and legislation (September 2008), I would like to clarify that it was a comment made by John Cochrane during an interview with Canadian Technician editor Allan Janssen for an article in Dec 2006 in which John commented that he might be long retired, or possibly dead before any effective legislation is fully in place, that my question was derived from.
The question better worded might have read something like this: Why has it taken so long for the different associations to finally start to work together to find some resolution in this matter, instead of worrying about the path travelled to reach the resolution?
Does membership not suffer for any organization/association when they will not work together for the better of the industry as a whole, instead of bickering over the political process to achieve a resolution? Checking the political attitudes at the door might have a more progressive result.
Sorry for any misconception, I did not intend to imply that AIA, or its representatives implied that legislation was not possible or attainable, but it should be clear now.
