Readers of Popular Mechanics prefer Bosch spark plugs: poll

Survey for the 2012 Reader's Choice Awards received more than 3,138 respondes. Bosch selected as preferred brand from a list of about 10 different brands.

For the third straight year, readers of Popular Mechanics magazine have named Bosch as their favorite brand of spark plug.

A survey for the magazine’s 2012 Reader’s Choice Awards received more than 3,138 respondes. Bosch was selected by the majority as the preferred brand of spark plug from a list of about 10 different brands.

“Bosch appreciates the recognition by Popular Mechanics magazine readers naming Bosch spark plugs their favorite,” said Mark Wilkinson, group product manager for spark plugs for Bosch in North America.

According to Bill Congdon, publisher and chief revenue officer at Popular Mechanics, the magazine’s readers demand quality and performance in any product they install.

“They are very savvy when it comes to their automobiles, and are often turned to for automotive advice by their neighbors, friends and family,” he said. “We congratulate Bosch for this honor.”

Bosch invented the first commercially viable high voltage spark plug in 1902, and for more than a century has been a worldwide leader in automotive products and technology. Bosch developed the concept of heat ranges for spark plugs, still used universally today, and pioneered the copper core plug as well as the platinum plug. Bosch manufactures its spark plugs with strict standards of quality, and matches spark plugs to individual automobile models in the replacement market.
