Jim Orchard, Co-CEO of Dayco Products, LLC announced that Ed Rammel will assume the role of President of the Dayco North American Automotive Aftermarket Group, effective September 1, 2011. Rammel will replace Dennis Welvaert who has announced his retirement effective August 31, 2011.
Rammel, who has over 35 years of experience in the automotive aftermarket, starting with Dayco in 1985 in the finance department. In 1989 he moved into the marketing department where he eventually became Vice President of Marketing.
"Ed is part of the management team that has led to Dayco being recognized as one of the most progressive aftermarket companies,” said Orchard. “He has played a critical role in our ongoing success and he will provide us with important continuity as Denny Welvaert’s successor.”
“Denny has been a great boss, and his shoes will be hard to fill,” said Rammel. “He never stops learning and encourages his people to be the same way. As his Vice President of Marketing I’ve had the opportunity to manage a wide range of areas including product management, intellectual property, sales administration, purchasing, R&D, cataloging, communications and sales force automation.”
Rammel is extremely active in trade associations and has served on several committees. He is a frequent speaker at major industry events and has been a strong supporter of the adoption of aftermarket data standards. He holds a B.S.B.A. from Ohio State University, an M.B.A. from the University of Dayton and a D.B.A. from California Coast University. He was awarded the Master Automotive Aftermarket Professional (MAAP) designation from Northwood’s University of the Aftermarket in October, 2001.
