ODP training course offered in Barrie, Ont. on June 4

The “Auto Prof” Mike Bailey is hosting an Ozone Depletion Prevention (ODP) training course in Barrie, Ont., on Wednesday June 4 at 5:30 p.m. The course will be held at the Ferndale Banquet Hall, 24 Ferndale Industrial Dr.

ODP (Ozone Depleting Prevention) training courses are provided for anyone involved in handing, storing, transporting, working with or disposing of refrigerants or similar substances used in refrigeration processes require this certification in Ontario.

The Ontario ODP certification course is based on Environment Canada’s Code of Practice for Reducing CFC Emissions in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Systems.

It deals with environmentally correct equipment design, proper handling of CFC/HCFC/HFC and will prepare the participants for complying with provincial regulations covering refrigeration and air conditioning systems.

Participants who attend the one day course and successfully achieve a mark of 75% or better on the exam will receive certification in the form on an Ozone Depletion Prevention (ODP) wallet size card. Cardholders must renew their cards through HRAI every five (5) years. Expired cards require the technician to attend and pass the full course.

The Ozone Depletion Prevention Card (ODP) is mandatory for all technicians to service and repair refrigeration equipment and to purchase and handle refrigerants.

Course Topics:

*CFCs and the ozone layer

*Complying with Ontario regulations

*Canada’s “Code of Practice”

*Leak detection methods…general and automotive specific (additional tech tips included)

*Refrigerant handling and recovery procedures

*Maintenance provisions, refrigerant recovery, reuse, recycle and reclamation equipment

The fee for the ODP training course is $190.00 + 24.70 HST ($214.70) per person and can be paid by cash or cheque payable to ‘The Auto Prof.’ Snacks and drinks will be provided.
