Not Safe For the Road!

Customer complains of low-brake pedal. Tech finds plastic ties used to hold caliper together.

Rohn Patenaude, of Crysler Automotive Centre in Crysler, Ont., sent us this picture of a brake caliper held together by plastic ties. The customer came in complaining of low brake pedal. “We added brake fluid and lifted the car and found the caliper blown out, with no brake pads on both sides,” he writes. “The worst part is that the caliper was being held in place with plastic tie straps. And, by the amount of rust, this was not from yesterday!”
