Chrysler’s new 300C SRT8 now features 425-horsepower, 25 percent more than the 300C. that’s 25 percent more power, courtesy of more displacement, (6.1 compared to 5.7 litres) higher compression ratio, faster engine speed and better engine “breathing” through special cylinder heads and manifolds. The 6.1-litre HEMI engine was strengthened with components including a reinforced engine block, forged steel crankshaft and high-strength connecting rods. Torque is a whopping 420 ft-lbs. Quarter mile times are claimed to be in the high 13 second range, with zero-to-sixty times in the low ‘fives. At 69.8 horsepower-per-litre, the new engine surpasses the legendary 1966 Mopar Street HEMI. The vehicle retails in Canada for $49,995.
