Honda Canada sold 107,849 units in 2011 – down 12.8% from 2010, dropping its market share in Canada to 6.8% from 7.9%.
A press release from the company highlights the sale of 55,090 Civics in 2011, retaining its position as Canada’s top-selling passenger car for a 14th consecutive year by a margin of more than 10,000 units over its nearest competitor.
CR-V achieves an annual sales record with 25,076 units (ahead of the previous record last year of 24,930 units), and it regains its position as the number one-selling import SUV in Canada.
Honda Canada’s goal for 2012 is to sell 30,000 of the new CR-V, which is now being built at Honda of Canada Mfg in Alliston, Ont.
Approximately 96% of the combined Honda and Acura vehicles sold in Canada in 2011 were produced at the company’s North American assembly plants in Canada and the U.S., up from 91% in 2010.
