Hankook Tire announced today that its ultra-high performance (UHP) winter tire, the Winter i*cept evo, was honoured with the Good Design Award 2012, in the Transportation Design category.
The Good Design Award is one of the most prestigious and recognized design award programs in the world, and has been presented annually for 62 years, beginning in 1950. Entries are made in a variety of categories and are judged based on several criteria, including: best aesthetic in an innovative design, new technologies used, materials featured, construction, overall concept, energy efficiency and more.
In 2012, the Good Design Award program selected approximately 500 product designs and graphics from 48 countries.
The Winter i*cept evo is Hankook Tire’s flagship UHP winter tire, delivering excellence in both style and performance. The product boasts environmentally-friendly features and offers superior handling and braking on wet and snowy roads.
The product was acknowledged for its asymmetrical tread design which reflects a polar bear’s claw, and for applying 3D sipe technology. In addition to the innovative tread design, the new silica compound applied to the Winter i*cept evo, which significantly reduces rolling resistance and enhances fuel-efficiency, was recognized.
Hankook Tire has been honoured with numerous design awards on various occasions over the past decade, including the International Design Excellence Award, the iF Design Award, and the Reddot Design Award, one of the top three design awards in the world, in the Product Design Category. Through receiving the Good Design Award for product design, Hankook Tire continues to demonstrate its status as a leading global tire company, recognized for excellence in both product performance and product design.
