Hankook Tire, the official tire of Hockey Canada, is working with former Calgary Flame Theoren Fleury and 2010 Olympic Gold Medalist Meghan Mikkelson to host Practice like the Pros. Twenty-seven lucky young athletes will be given the chance to learn from the best while they skate and shoot around Hankook Tires to improve their game.

Young hockey fans from across the country have a chance to be part of this once in a lifetime opportunity to ‘Practice like a Pro’, with Canadian hockey greats Fleury and Mikkelson. Autographed jerseys, stickers and pucks are just a few of the take-home items that will sweeten the overall experience. To enter the contest, youth aged eight to twelve are asked to visit www.hankooktire.ca/pros and write a short essay or create a video submission, explaining why they deserve to practice like a pro. The contest runs until December 6, 2011. The practice itself takes place Monday, December 12, at the Winsport arena in Calgary, Alberta.

“We are proud to be hosting this event, it’ a unique opportunity to give our young players a chance to practice with some of Hockey’s greats,” said Bill Hume, vice-president, Hankook Tire Canada. “We look forward to a great day with all the players in December”

Participants will also be taken on a full tour of the Winsport Athletic Centre to see the Team Canada dressing room, audio centre and team lounge. A thrilling experience for any young hockey-enthusiast, the Winsport facilities house the 2012 World Junior Championship practices and the head office of Hockey Canada. A signing ceremony, Q&A session and complementary tickets to the Team Canada Red versus White game will also be given to all participants and their parents.
