Five of GCR Tire Centres six truck tire retread plants have received ISO 9001:2000 certification. Retreading facilities in Bridgewater, N.S.; Moncton, N.B.; Sudbury, Ont.; Paradise, Nfld.; and Farnham, Que. achieved the requirements for the certification. The last of the company’s six truck tire retread facilities, located in Qubec City, is in the process of becoming ISO 9001:2000 certified.
“We are proud of the dedication demonstrated by all of our plant personnel during the entire implementation process,” said Marcel Leclair business manager, retread operations. “We are delighted to be able to offer our customers this added quality assurance.”
The ISO 9001:2000 certification process recognizes those facilities that have undergone and passed an intensive third-party examination of globally recognized quality management system requirements. As such, a certified facility has demonstrated the effective implementation and maintenance of systems and procedures that help increase employee quality awareness, reduce the amount of re-work done in the facility and lower costs and consumer complaints. The certification process may take up to a year to finalize and facilities must be recertified every three years with annual surveillance audits.
