Ford has introduced an all-new 3.5L V-6 that the company expects will power one in every five Ford vehicles by the end of the decade. The height and width of the engine is the same as the smaller displacement Duratec 3.0 V6. The engine produces 250 horsepower and 240 pound-feet of torque in its initial crossover utility vehicle applications. It uses a dual-overhead cam valvetrain with intake variable cam timing. In anticipation of future needs, the new V6 has been designed to accommodate advanced technologies, including gasoline-direct injection and turbocharging.
