A number of car owners across Canada are delaying essential car maintenance and repairs, or simply not performing any at all. In an effort to estimate the potential market demand that could be available in Canada, DesRosiers Automotive Consultants (DAC) was commissioned to prepare the “Hidden Potential Unmasked -The Canadian Automotive Aftermarket Demand Study.”
The ultimate goal of this report was to estimate the degree to which vehicles are being properly maintained. The report, based on service manual recommendations, estimated that the true industry potential demand is at $28 billion, while actual services performed amount to only $18 billion. This significant difference of $10 billion indicates the staggering degree of opportunity that is being missed when customers bring their cars in for servicing.
AIA is giving its members access to the full report in order to help them understand the benefits of promoting aftermarket repair and maintenance. Proactive service behavior can be profitable to the industry, the environment and can also contribute to a safer, more reliable vehicle for the driving public.
AIA Canada encourages members to take the opportunity to view the Demand Study video. This video offers members a brief overview outlining the report’s findings and how you can take advantage of the information that is contained in the report to grow your business from within.
AIA members can download a copy of the full report from the AIA Web site.
