Dayco has won a President’s Award for Catalog Excellence at the 2015 Knowledge Exchange Conference.
The conference, held by the National Catalog Managers Association’s (NCMA), took place in Orlando, Florida between April 19 – 22. Dayco received silver in the mobile app category for its VIN scanning parts look-up smartphone app.
“We would once again like to thank NCMA for recognizing the Dayco App with the President’s Award for Catalog Excellence,” said Sherry Mathis, manager of sales and marketing technology for Dayco. “When we first developed the app, our focus was on our customers and being able to identify the easiest way to provide them with the information they need. With the creation of the first-ever VIN Scanning parts look-up tool in the industry, we feel as if we have succeeded.”
Each year during the Knowledge Exchange Conference, the largest gathering of catalog professionals and their vendors and solution partners, NCMA President’s Catalog Excellence Award winners are recognized for the best examples of printed and electronic cataloging in the auto care industry. Both web and mobile applications are evaluated on criteria such as design, navigation, use of technology, innovation, interactivity and quality of content, according to NCMA.
Developed in 2012, the Dayco VIN Scanning parts look-up app gives a complete list of Dayco parts, routings and installation instructions that match a vehicle’s year, make and model by simply scanning the VIN barcode under the windshield or in the door jamb of the vehicle, by entering the vehicle’s license plate digits and the state of the license plate or by speaking the VIN or license plate into the microphone within the phone.
After finding the needed part or parts, app-users also have access to part specifications, routing instructions and step-by-step installation videos. With a ‘Where to Buy’ feature, the app gives users the ability to find the closest parts store selling Dayco’s products, with store contact information and directions to the store location via a map search through the use of GPS.
In 2013, Dayco received a Gold President’s Award for Catalog Excellence in the Mobile Web category for the Dayco App, followed by a Silver Award in the Mobile App category in 2014.
