Canadian Tire launches My Garage iPad app

Consumers can “park” up to five cars in Canadian Tire’s “My Garage” – a new iPad app designed to make auto shopping and vehicle maintenance easier.

The app features an Auto Service Reminder tool, which integrates the Canadian Tire app with customer’s iPad calendars to set convenient auto service reminders. As well, the app also allows customers to personalize their experience by adding an image of each of the vehicles in their virtual garage.

The Auto Parts Selector tool, available for Apple and Android devices, is described as one of the first of its kind in the Canadian app marketplace. Using this tool, customers can add the exact vehicle make and model information for up to five vehicles to the app to quickly find compatible parts for their car, as well as product information (including videos where available), product availability and current pricing. The Sale Alert function sends notifications to customers when products highlighted on their shopping list goes on sale.

"As part of the growing number of digital tools we offer our customers, the enhanced Canadian Tire iPad app is an other way we are augmenting the automotive retail experience."

In addition to the above, the new iPad app also offers convenient features which are already available with the Canadian Tire mobile app for iPhone, BlackBerry, or Android:

  * View the Canadian Tire weekly flyer, including early flyer access each week and an enhanced digital experience with the ability to zoom in on images and hotspots for product details

  * Store locator helps customers find the nearest Canadian Tire store based on their current location

  * Search CanadianTire.ca for products, information and pricing

  * Barcode scanning allows users instant access to product information
