Natural Resources Canada’s Office of Energy Efficiency has announced the results of their Energuide Awards. The fuel efficiency winners by category are:

Two seater: Honda Insight

Subcompact: Volkswagen New Beetle TDI Diesel/Mini Cooper/Toyota Celica

Compact: Toyota Prius

Mid-size: Pontiac Vibe/Toyota Matrix

Full-size: Chevrolet Impala

Station wagon: Volkswagen Jetta TDI Diesel Wagon/Ford Focus Wagon

Special purpose: Ford Escape/Mazda Tribute

Van: Chevrolet Venture, Oldsmobile Silhouette and Pontiac Montana/ Dodge Caravan

Pickup truck: Ford Ranger/Mazda B2300

The awards are based on estimated annual fuel consumption, which is determined by measuring how much fuel each vehicle consumed driving 20,000 kilometres, 55 percent in the city and 45 percent on the highway.
