The students of St. Stephen’s Catholic School in Toronto held their second annual soap box derby in late June. The soap box derby was the culmination of months of work by the students who were participants in the school’s Transportation Success for All program. The program is involves Grade 7 students who are encouraged to design, build, decorate and race the soap box derby cars. The event was coordinated by Principal Brad Swanek along with teacher Brigida Maniaci, in conjunction with the automotive staff from Don Bosco High school. The event was sponsored by NTN Bearings and SSGM. The drizzling rain did not prevent the 400 students from St. Stephen Catholic School from waving their flags and cheering their favourite soap box car on towards the finish line.
