Ford of Canada has made the largest single delivery of dual-fuel vehicles in North America with a ceremonial presentation of the keys to the first of 117 F-150 pick-up trucks by Bob Roberts, Pacific regional manager of Ford of Canada to B.C.’s minister for transportation and highways Harry Lali. The delivery on June 16th marked the beginning of the complete conversion of the B.C. transportation ministry’s fleet to alternate fuel vehicles. Ford currently offers F-series light duty trucks in dedicated natural gas, bi-fuel propane, and bi-fuel natural gas models. The vehicles are built in Ford’s Oakville, Ontario plant using a special “gaseous fuel prep” engine from Windsor, Ontario, with alternate fuel plumbing and final assembly taking place at GFI Controls in Cambridge, Ontario, making the vehicles entirely Canadian.
