Automotive Industries Association of Canada President Ray Datt received the prestigious Northwood University Automotive Aftermarket Education Award for 2002 at a November 5th award breakfast during the Automotive Aftermarket Products Exposition (AAPEX) in Las Vegas.

The award is presented to individuals in the automotive aftermarket field who have made noteworthy contributions to education, public or private, on any level, inside or outside of the industry. Fourteen awards were presented this year.

“The success of the aftermarket is dependent upon the continuous learning cycle and the professionalism it breeds,” says Ray. “I am honoured to receive this award and accept it on behalf of the next generation of aftermarketers.”

As President of AIA, Ray currently is a Director of the Canadian Automotive Service and Repair Council (CARS – which is a not-for-profit organization established to serve the human resource and training needs of the Canadian car and truck repair and service industry), the Canadian Automotive Institute Board, as well as the Global Automotive Aftermarket Symposium. Ray is also a trustee on the AIA Arthur Paulin Scholarship Fund (for students pursuing an automotive aftermarket career), the AIA Marion Roberts Scholarship Fund, and the Global Automotive Aftermarket Symposium Scholarship Fund.
