The Automotive Industries Association of Canada took the long-running tool tax debate to Ottawa on Feb 13th for meetings with MP Maurizio Bevilacqua (chair of the House Finance Committee) and the Honourable Jane Stewart (Minister of Human Resources). AIA President Ray Datt was joined by Chairman Randy Moore and a retinue of industry heavyweights to keep the issue on the government’s radar. Both tool tax relief and the looming labour shortage were discussed, culminating with an evening reception attended by many ministers, including leader of the opposition Stockwell Day.
