Affinia Global Brake & Chassis has taken its fight against “lightweight rotors” to the public.

The brake component manufacturer and a unit of Affinia Group Inc., has announced that it has launched as part of its continuing public awareness program on the potential safety risks associated with a class of lighter and thinner brake rotors that do not meet original equipment (OE) specifications.

Earlier this year the company launched a lawsuit accusing Dura International of falsely advertising its products as meeting or exceeding OE specifications.

According to Affinia, the new website is intended to be a clearinghouse for news, expert advice and commentary, and conversational give-and-take on the topic of “lightweight” or “thin-wall” brake rotors.

The company says that the site, which is not intended to promote Affinia products, will serve as an information exchange among readers and help brake specialists to develop best practices.
