Automechanika Organizers Say Economic…

Automechanika Organizers Say Economic Uncertainty Not Affecting Sales

Organizers of the Automechanika Frankfurt event coming this September say that the current economic uncertainty in Europe does not appear to be having a major effect on sales.

The event, which is held every two years, attracted more than 4,400 exhibitors who played host to 160,000 visitors in 2008.

It is generally regarded as the largest, most international automotive aftermarket trade show event in the world. Exhibitors from 80 countries participated in 2008, and visitors hailed from more than 140 countries.

Organizers say similar numbers to 2008 are already shaping up.

“We do not expect it will have a major impact,” says Stephan Kurzawski, brand manager Automechanika and vice president Messe Frankfurt. While he was not predicting great increases, Kruzawski did say that he expects visitor levels to be on a par with 2008.

Exhibitor numbers are also looking stable.

“Ninety-six percent of the space has already been sold,” says Thomas Aukamm, director, Automechanika Frankfurt. “We have already achieved a high level. The number of exhibitors is also about the same as 2008.

“Considering the economic crisis we are in, this is a very good result.”

Automechanika Frankfurt is scheduled from September 14 to 19, in Frankfurt, Germany. For more information, visit Automechanika Frankfurt.
