AIA Canada is working with industry to convince the Ontario government that mandating the certification of collision shops will help reduce the high cost of insurance in that province. If the initiative is adopted — and it looks like it might — they think it would be a good idea for mechanical shops to face mandatory certification too. We spoke to AIA president J.F. Champagne to understand what’s behind the initiative.

  1. Bob Ward says:

I feel this is a very worthwhile venture. This will ensure certified shops will repair vehicles properly. The public deserves this. With vehicle complexity increasing quickly, shops repairing them need to keep up with technology and have access to repair information. It will take a significant amount of money to invest to be able to repair late model vehicles. Repair shops should also be able to use quality aftermarket parts in the repair process to keep costs down. We, as repair professionals need to get behind AIA and support their initiative.
