Aisin, Denso team up on electrification

Recognizing the need to meet demands of consumers and automakers, two companies are forming a partnership to boost electrification offerings.

Suppliers Aisin and Denso announced that they are forming a joint venture to develop and sell electrification driving modules.

“The automotive industry is in an era of profound transformation, particularly in technologies for electrification, automated driving and connected driving,” said a press release from Denso. “Electrification is one of the key disrupters impacting the automotive industry. Companies need to accelerate the development of technologies that meet the needs of automakers and consumers and help maintain a sustainable society free from environmental problems such as global warming, atmospheric pollution and resource and energy problems.”

The Japan-based companies – which will have an equal 50/50 stake in the partnership – will focus on driving modules for hybrids, plug-in hybrids, fuel cell vehicles and electric vehicles.  Efforts will be particularly pushed in China, a market where electric vehicles are expected to grow quickly.

The new venture is set to launch in March 2019.

“The collaboration of two companies will support their commitment to maintain sustainable society,” Denso said.
