AIA conference in Saskatoon to discuss future of auto repair shops

The Automotive Industries Association of Canada (AIA) is asking if the connected car of the future could kill the aftermarket as we know it.

The association’s coming conference in Saskatoon is provocatively called “The Death of the Repair Shop?”

It will examine the ways car manufacturers are planning to expand business opportunities built on connected vehicles and all of the data that comes with them.

Scheduled for Sept. 12 at the Saskatoon Inn & Conference Centre, it will feature presentations from a range of speakers, including Michel Julien of TeamXtreme Tech.

Julien will cover the growing field of vehicle reprogramming. A well-known expert in the field of vehicle technology and reprogramming, he’ll explain why shops need to understand how to access OE repair sites, how to turn the shop into a facility that can focus on vehicle repair and reprogramming, and what will happen to the industry if status quo remains.
