The Manitoba Division of the Automotive Industries Association of Canada reports that it raised $5,500 at its 6th Annual Sun Fund for Kids Charity Golf tournament at the Shilo Golf & Country Club.
Tournament was attended by AIA members and customers from the Brandon and Winnipeg areas and included several Brandon area business representatives. Thanks to the commitment of the generous golfers and hole sponsors AIA Manitoba was able to present a cheque for $5,500 to Art Asham with Child and Family Services of Brandon at the end of the event.
In addition a cheque for $1,500 was presented to Asham by Brad Morris, AIA chair on behalf of High Five for Kids, bringing 2010 contributions to $7,000.
Over the last six years, AIA Manitoba through the Sun Fund for Kids Golf Tournament has raised $33,800 and sent over 330 children to camp in the Western Manitoba area.
The Sun Fund for Kids is administered by Child and Family Services staff volunteers in Brandon and ensures 100% of funds raised go directly to sending needy children to camp.
AIA Manitoba is the Sun Funds largest contributor.
Asham, C.F.S. supervisor and Sun Fund co-ordinator stated recently "In the six years we have been involved with AIA Manitoba we have found them to be second to none in their community commitment. Their impact on our program has been monumental and the kids of Westman have been the beneficiaries of their commitment and hard work".
AIA Manitoba Chairman Charlie Scott closed off the evening by also presenting a cheque for $500 to Brandon Salutes, a Brandon Area scholarship initiative for children and spouses of fallen soldiers. This contribution was made possible by excess AIA Manitoba scholarship funds and was independent of the Sun Fund tournament.
