S6 - Right to Repair
Due to the increased sophistication of
today’s vehicles, it is gradually becoming
more difficult for independent repair facilities
to access the information from vehicle
manufacturers. The aftermarket industry
and independent repair facilities are being restricted
access to the tools, training and repair codes preventing
them from repairing late model vehicles. This
controlled auto repair effectively eliminates consumer
choice. Paul Hyatt, President of the Tire Industry
Association, provides an overview of these ‘right to
repair’ issues taking place in Canada and the USA.
